A Room of Oblivion is an experimental film made while researching for another project on colonial archives. Through rediscovered footage taken in a journey with an ex-partner, the film traces back to filmmaker’s earliest days of being queer, and embraces the memories and failures that came with the awakening.
《遺忘之室》是為了另一部紀錄片計劃研究檔案期間,另走的一條幽逕。遊走在失去細節的低像素影像之中,想像以記憶術重整與前度的一段旅程,在當下再次細看埋藏在電腦多時的檔案,再次閱讀第一段感情關係,以及嘗試接受那段遺忘已久的記憶。
Dorothy Cheung is a filmmaker and artist. Her practice explores the notion of identities and home through a double perspective - personal and political, memory and forgetfulness. Her moving-image works are selected for film festivals including International Film Festival Rotterdam, Leeds International Film Festival, Seoul Women’s Film Festival, Taiwan International Documentary Festival, South Taiwan Film Festival and Queer Lisboa.
